The Witches Ball - Edited by Tiffany Curry & Seamus King

The Witches Ball is a collection of 14 short horror stories, each connected in some way to a witch or witchcraft. It weighs in at 312 pages and was published on October 13, 2021 by Jazz House Publications. It was edited by Tiffany Curry & Seamus King.

I cannot go any further until I acknowledge the awesomeness of the cover. It hooked me right away, and I couldn’t resist grabbing this book the moment I saw it. Kudos to cover designer Fay Lane for the spellbinding eye candy!

The foreword by Cassandra L. Thompson, the founder of Quill & Crow Publishing House. was as enjoyable to read as the stories that follow it. She does a fantastic job introducing the book and the stories therein.

Though I enjoyed this collection of stories, it took me a little longer to read than I had anticipated. There are no speedy reads in The Witches Ball. If you are sitting down to grab a quick tale, it could be difficult. Readers will want to set aside some time for each story. It will be worth it, though. Sometimes I only get a chance to read before bed, hence my glow-in-the-dark e-book habit. I tended to only get through one story before I turned into a pumpkin.

The stories in The Witches Ball will keep you entertained and make your mind wander to times in the past when witches were looked upon as dangerous creatures. The settings are diverse, and each story stands well on its own. Readers are bound to find stories they will enjoy and perhaps even think about later as they’re lying in bed at night.

I found a lot of enjoyment in this book, and I am excited to watch for more works from many of the talented contributors.

My top stories in this collection:

I always love learning more about the authors after I read their works. I wish I’d had a link immediately after each story to magically whisk me off to the author’s bio in that moment of raw reading delight. There is a bio section at the end, though, where readers can learn about the authors after completing the book.
